“Look….I’m sorry, okay?”

“….What you did really hurt us, especially Faline and Banning.”

“I know…I feel like an ass for doing that.”

“As you should, Adira! If you remember clearly, it was me who didn’t tell them you left to find some ‘adventure’ and a ‘change of pace’ as you called it.”

“And I’m thankful you didn’t. I just want to start over.”

“With your new found motorcycle friends?”

“With you, Desmond. You, Faline, and Banning. I feel awful for leaving in the dead of night.”

“And leaving them unaware about where you were going or how to contact you.”

“You don’t think I wanted to? You don’t know how it felt to be in that town. I needed to leave. Find my own group.”

“You could have at least TOLD us, Adira. Do you know how hard and long I looked for you that night? Banning had to drive me home at 4 in the morning after I passed out near a curb! You should have said something, or at least talked to us about it first.”

“As if I had a choice. The leader of the gang wouldn’t let me tell you guys, I had to leave the night I signed up.”

“Which makes this motorcycle gang all the more while to be in, doesn’t it? Abandoning your half-siblings to go and endanger yourself out there with the prostitutes and drug dealers in Las Vicio.”

“You’re not my father, Desmond! I can make my own decisions and choices. And don’t start acting like a cop either, it pisses me off.”

“I AM A COP, ADIRA. Excuse me if I happen to want you not to get yourself killed out there.”

“Well, I can take care of myself, so no need for you to be my guardian, Dez.”

“Adira, please just listen.”

“I’m fine, Desmond… I gotta go.”

Adira hung up the payphone and placed it back on its stand. She closed her eyes in anguish, and took a breath of frustration. Damn Desmond, why did he always have to be like that? Trying to act mature and disciplined like his fellow officers, when she knew exactly how he was underneath all that. He was just as free-spirited as she was, but instead of really letting it out, he hid behind that officer’s badge like a coward. It didn’t help either that he always tried to act like the father she didn’t have, which lead to more arguments and conflict. Adira let out an angry yell in the phone booth, slammed her fists against the glass, slightly cracking it in the process.
Adira paused and inspect the damage she caused. It was small, but it looked very noticeable, especially against the rain shower outside. She sighed, and placed her hands over her face, the world going black once she did. She leaded back up to the glass, and let her body sink to the floor, as she sat and sniffled lightly.

Adira grinned "you guys get in trouble with the cops often?" She asked, wondering if Desmond may be one of those officers.
